History of WEla

HISTORY
In celebration of Women’s History Month in March 2016, Upuia Ahkiong the owner of Kua Body Studios  Los Altos founded  Women Entrepreneurs of Los Altos (WELA) to honor and celebrate the women business owners of the community and recognize their contributions.  WELA is a business community group filled with passionate women who see the importance of celebrating women entrepreneurship in their local town.

In March 2019, the group expanded and opened a second chapter in Pleasanton, CA drawing over 100+ attendees at the first launch event. During this same time, the organization shifted its focus to a broader and more inclusive approach by rebranding to Women Entrepreneurs Launch while keeping the name WELA.

WELA is a grassroots not for profit women’s business organization. The vision is to create a locally-based WELA group in every small town throughout the US in order to provide business support for all women-owned businesses.

MISSION
The mission of WELA is to:
1.
CONNECT with other locally-based women entrepreneurs
2. CELEBRATE together our journey as business owners
3. CONTRIBUTE by giving back to our community and other entrepreneurs

Our mission is to Connect • Celebrate • Contribute!

We are about building meaningful relationships, supporting each other and giving back to aspiring entrepreneurs.
